About the author

Born in Copenhagen in 1950, Jussi Adler-Olsen is a Danish author, publisher, editor, and entrepreneur. Before turning fully to fiction, he studied political science and worked across publishing and other creative fields, bringing a wide range of experience to his writing.

He first published nonfiction in 1984 and made his fiction debut in 1997. He became internationally known for the Department Q series, centered on detective Carl Mørck, and the books helped establish him as one of the standout names in Scandinavian crime writing.

His novels are known for suspenseful plots, strong atmosphere, and an interest in the pressures that shape people's lives. That mix of tension, character, and social observation has earned him a wide readership far beyond Denmark.
