About the author
Living in Ballyfermot, Dublin, with his wife and children, Joe O'Brien writes for young readers across a range of ages. He is especially known for his Alfie Green series, about a boy who can talk to plants, along with the Danny Wilde GAA novels for older readers.
His books also include the fantasy novel Beyond the Cherry Tree and Legends' Lair. Across these stories, he moves easily between gentle magic, school-age adventure, and sports-centered fiction, giving children plenty of different ways into reading.
He has appeared on RTÉ's The Den, TV3's Ireland AM, and radio programs, helping introduce his work to a wider audience. His book Alfie Green and the Chocolate Cosmos was shortlisted for the Children's Book of the Year Award at the Irish Book Awards.
