About the author

Born in Ekenäs, Finland, on July 27, 1859, he was a Finland-Swedish engineer, educator, poet, and author. He trained as an engineer and later made study trips in Central Europe, experiences that informed his interest in technical schooling and craft education.

Alongside his educational work, he wrote both poetry and prose in Swedish. His name is closely linked with the poem Till havs, and his books include Kustbilder, reflecting a strong connection to the sea and coastal life. He also edited volumes on Finland-Swedish engineers, showing how naturally his literary and technical interests lived side by side.

He spent much of his life connected to his hometown of Ekenäs, where he died in November 1947. Today he is remembered as a distinctive cultural figure whose writing joined observation, learning, and a clear sense of place.
