About the author

Born in London, England, in 1930, John Mills later made his life in Canada and became known as a writer, publisher, and professor of medieval literature. He taught at Simon Fraser University and was named Professor Emeritus after his retirement.

Alongside his academic career, he wrote novels and essays, building a body of work that mixed literary interests with a thoughtful, personal voice. Sources also note that he pursued theological studies later in life, earning a Master of Theological Studies degree from the Vancouver School of Theology.

In later years he lived on Salt Spring Island in British Columbia with his wife, Elaina. He died on January 16, 2016, at age 85.
