by John Albert Broadus, A. T. Robertson
Born in Virginia in 1827, John Albert Broadus became one of the best-known Baptist ministers of his era. He was widely respected as a preacher, educator, and writer, and his influence reached well beyond his own churches and classrooms.
Broadus was one of the founders of The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he taught and later served as president. He is especially remembered for his work in preaching and biblical instruction, and for helping train generations of ministers.
He died in 1895, but his legacy continued through his sermons, books, and the institutions he helped build. In Baptist history, he is often remembered as both a gifted communicator and a steady, formative leader.
