Based in Tucson, Jefferson Carter is a poet and author whose work has appeared in journals including Carolina Quarterly, Barrow Street, Rattle, and New Poets of the American West. He taught writing at Pima Community College and has been part of the Tucson literary scene for decades.
His books include Taking Chances, Gentling the Horses, Tough Love, Litter Box, Get Serious: New and Selected Poems, and later collections such as Yesternow and Free Hugs. Tough Love won the Riverstone Poetry Press Award, and Get Serious was recognized as a Southwest Best Book of 2013.
