About the author

Born in Michigan in 1888 or 1889, Jeanne Judson worked as a reporter before settling in New York, where she was also connected with The Smart Set. That early journalism background gave her fiction a brisk, readable style, and she began publishing novels by the late 1910s.

Over the years, she wrote across several kinds of books, including general fiction, children’s literature, and romance. She was especially prolific in the 1950s through the 1970s, and also published under the names Emily Thorne and Frances Dean Hancock.

Judson died in New York in 1981. Today she is remembered as a versatile American popular writer whose career stretched across much of the twentieth century.
