Jean McKishnie Blewett was a Canadian journalist, author, and poet, born on November 4, 1862, in Scotia, Ontario. She also wrote under the pen name Katherine Kent, and she became known for work that was accessible, domestic in tone, and popular with general readers.
She published both fiction and poetry, including Out of the Depths, Heart Songs, and The Cornflower and Other Poems. Alongside her literary work, she spent many years connected with the Toronto Globe, where her journalism helped build her public reputation.
Blewett was later recognized as a figure of lasting importance in Canadian literary history, including designation as a National Historic Person of Canada. She died on August 19, 1934.
