A German writer who published under the pen name Jassy Torrund, she built a steady career with novels and stories and later drew on her years in Franconia in some of her fiction. Though little known today, her work still offers a glimpse of popular German storytelling around the turn of the 20th century.

About the author
Born Josepha Mose in Preetz on September 20, 1860, she became known to readers under the pseudonym Jassy Torrund. German biographical records identify her as both a writer and a painter, and later library and reference sources connect the pen name directly with her real name.
German-language reference sources note that illness kept her in bed for long periods when she was young, and that this was where she discovered her gift for writing and completed an early novel. She went on to publish numerous stories and novels, including Wenn Landsleute sich begegnen, und andere Novellen. A local history source from Scheinfeld says she lived there from 1913 to 1927, and that some of her books reflect that Franconian setting in disguised streets, houses, and characters.
She died in Breslau in 1943. While she is now fairly obscure, surviving editions and digital copies show that she once had a substantial readership, and her fiction remains of interest to readers exploring overlooked German authors from the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
