Sources consulted during this search describe him as a graduate of Washington and Jefferson College and Western Theological Seminary, and as an ordained pastor in the Presbyterian Church.
He also taught theology and wrote extensively for general readers as well as church audiences. The sources found here credit him with many books on Christian belief and biblical study, including The Making and Meaning of the New Testament, and note his work as an editor of the Presbyterian Banner.
