About the author

Born in Piqua, Ohio, in 1907, Jack Snow became one of the most devoted early readers of L. Frank Baum’s Oz books. That lifelong enthusiasm shaped his career: he became a writer, radio writer, and a noted scholar of Baum’s work.

Snow is especially remembered for writing two official Oz novels, The Magical Mimics in Oz and The Shaggy Man of Oz. He also compiled Who’s Who in Oz, a reference work that helped generations of fans keep track of the people, places, and creatures of the series.

He died in New York City in 1956, but his reputation has endured because he approached Oz not just as a job, but as a world he genuinely loved. For listeners who enjoy classic fantasy, his work offers both the charm of the original series and the care of a writer who knew it inside and out.
