About the author

A Michigan native, he studied theater at Florida State University before spending time in Los Angeles as an actor and screenwriter. That performance background helps give his fiction an energetic, visual style.

He is known for writing fantasy, horror, science fiction, and young adult fiction, including The Sleepwalkers and books in The Tracks, Luck Gods, Dragons and Aces, and The Lamplighters worlds. Some of his work has also grown out of creative collaboration, including projects developed with author Charlene Keel.

Beyond writing novels, he has also been described as a storyteller and performer, with additional study in writing through Spalding University. Altogether, his career blends stage, screen, and speculative fiction in a way that makes his work approachable for readers who enjoy atmosphere, adventure, and a little darkness.
