Ierne L. (Ierne Lifford) Plunket

Born in 1885, Ierne Lifford Plunket was a British author remembered for works on medieval history as well as children's books. She came from the Plunket family and published under the name Ierne L. Plunket.

Her best-known books include Europe in the Middle Ages and Isabel of Castile and the Making of the Spanish Nation, 1451–1504. These works helped introduce general readers to complex periods of European history in a straightforward, readable way.

Plunket died in 1970. Although not a household name today, her historical writing has had a long afterlife through reprints, library collections, and digital editions, which continue to bring her work to new readers.
