About the author

Born in Suonenjoki in 1885, Holger Nohrström was a Finnish-Swedish man of letters whose work stretched across libraries, criticism, translation, and research. He worked at the Helsinki University Library and became known as an important library professional as well as a literary voice in Finland's Swedish-language cultural world.

Alongside his library career, he wrote criticism for Hufvudstadsbladet and served as editor of Finsk Tidskrift. He translated several Finnish authors into Swedish, helping readers cross the language border between Finland's two major literary traditions.

Nohrström also wrote and researched on book history and literary subjects, and he is remembered for the detective novel Den gåtfulle dubbelgångaren, published in 1916 under the pseudonym "Mr. C." He died in Helsinki in 1939.
