A Dutch evangelical writer and teacher, he became known far beyond his local church for passionate religious writing and a strong public stand for peace. His work linked faith, daily life, and social conscience in a way that reached readers across the Netherlands.

by Hilbrandt Boschma
Born in Friesland in 1869, he went on to become a Dutch Reformed evangelist, schoolteacher, theologian, and writer. Sources describe him as an outspoken antimilitarist, pacifist, and teetotaler, and those commitments shaped both his public work and his writing.
He is especially associated with Ruurlo, where he served for many years as an evangelist. Accounts of his life note that he gained wider recognition through his preaching and through his monthly magazine Licht en liefde voor allen die daaraan behoefte hebben, which helped him build a readership beyond his immediate congregation.
Boschma also published books, including religious works and fiction. Project Gutenberg lists Blank en Bruin, showing that at least part of his work still circulates today for modern readers. He died in Hilversum in 1954.
