A Dutch teacher and children's writer, she spent much of her career creating stories for young readers with fellow educator Katharina Leopold. Her work blends classroom warmth with gentle moral lessons, and it still circulates today through reprints and digital editions.

by Henriette Dietz, Katharina Leopold
Henriëtte Dietz, born Henriette Georgine Roberta Dietz in Lobith on August 21, 1857, was a Dutch teacher and writer of children's books. She trained as a teacher in Arnhem with the help of a state scholarship and later worked in Groningen, where she became closely associated with educator and collaborator Katharina Leopold.
Much of her writing grew out of that educational world. Together, Dietz and Leopold published children's stories and collections including Zonnestralen in school en huis, and in 1902 they took on the chief editorship of the children's magazine Ons Thuis. Her work is remembered for its clear, accessible style and its focus on stories for young readers.
Dietz left teaching in 1904 because of health problems, but her name remained connected with Dutch children's literature. She died in Groningen on August 8, 1939.
