Born in Helsinki on December 5, 1888, Henning Söderhjelm was a Finland-Swedish author, translator, and scholar. He earned a doctorate in 1914 after beginning with psychological studies, and he was associated with the dagdrivare literary circle of the 1910s.
His career ranged widely across novels, essays, and translation. He is remembered not only for his own writing, but also for helping carry literature between languages, and for publishing under the pseudonyms Lennart Wikström and Arnold Sundqvist.
Söderhjelm died in Gothenburg on December 7, 1967. His work reflects a life spent between ideas, books, and the cultural worlds of Finland and Sweden.
