About the author

Born in 1880, Henri Louis de Beaufort was a Dutch jurist and legal writer. He is most closely associated with Het auteursrecht in het Nederlandsche en internationale recht, a study first published in 1909 that examined copyright law in the Netherlands in relation to international law.

That book has remained the clearest trace of his reputation: it presents him as a careful scholar interested in how national law fits into broader cross-border rules. Library and catalog records also show that his work continued to circulate in later editions, suggesting it remained useful to readers interested in copyright and legal history.

De Beaufort died in 1960. Although widely known today mainly through bibliographic and archival records, he still stands out as an early Dutch voice in the serious study of copyright.
