Born in 1867, Henry Beauchamp Walters was a British archaeologist and museum scholar best known for his work on Greek and Roman antiquities. He wrote widely under the name H. B. Walters, producing books that introduced classical art to broad audiences while also contributing serious catalogues and studies for researchers.
His published work shows the breadth of his interests. Alongside readable surveys such as Greek Art, he produced more specialized studies including Catalogue of the Greek and Roman Lamps in the British Museum and History of Ancient Pottery: Greek, Etruscan, and Roman. He also wrote Church Bells, showing that his interests were not limited to the classical world.
Walters died in 1944. Today he is remembered mainly through the durability of his books, many of which are still cited, reprinted, or preserved in major digital libraries.
