Gustav Conz

Born in Tübingen in 1832, Gustav Heinrich Conz built his career as a painter, draftsman, and teacher in southern Germany. Reliable reference sources describe him as a landscape artist associated with the Düsseldorf school, and note that he later worked in Stuttgart, where he died in 1914.

Conz studied art in Stuttgart and Munich and continued his training in Düsseldorf. His surviving work includes landscapes and views of places in Germany and Italy, showing a steady interest in atmosphere, architecture, and careful observation.

Alongside painting, he also taught drawing and wrote on artistic practice, including perspective. That mix of studio work and teaching helps explain why his name appears not only in art references, but also in educational and biographical records from the period.
