About the author

Born in Trieste on March 22, 1880, he later moved with his family to the Florentine area and studied literature in Florence. He went on to build a remarkably varied career as a journalist, essayist, poet, and narrator, publishing more than thirty books with major Italian publishers.

For many years he worked with Corriere della Sera, where he wrote mainly on politics and history, sometimes using the pseudonym "Pànfilo." Sources also describe him as a scholar of theater and literary history, which helps explain the range of his writing, from criticism and essays to creative work.

He died in Florence on August 17, 1958. Remembered as a versatile and energetic literary figure, he belongs to that generation of Italian writers who combined newspaper work with serious cultural scholarship.
