A self-taught Canadian writer and educator, he became one of the earliest and most influential defenders of flood geology. His books and lectures helped shape later creationist thought, even though his wider influence grew most strongly after his lifetime.

Raised in New Brunswick, George McCready Price became a Seventh-day Adventist while still young and went on to build a long career as a teacher, lecturer, and religious writer. Although not trained as a professional geologist in the usual sense, he devoted much of his life to writing about science and faith in plain, accessible language.
Price is best remembered for arguing against evolution and for promoting what came to be called flood geology—the idea that much of Earth’s rock record and fossil layers were formed by a global biblical Flood. He published many books and articles on these themes, and his work later became important to parts of the modern creationist movement.
He also served in Adventist schools and colleges in both North America and Britain, combining education, religion, and popular science writing throughout his career. Today he remains a notable figure in the history of creationism and in the intellectual life of the Seventh-day Adventist tradition.
