About the author

Born in Havelock, New Brunswick, in 1870, George McCready Price was a Canadian author, educator, and Seventh-day Adventist thinker. He studied at Battle Creek College and later earned degrees from Loma Linda College and Pacific Union College. Over the course of his career, he taught in Adventist schools and wrote extensively on religion and science.

Price is most closely associated with his defense of a young Earth and a global flood as an explanation for the fossil record and rock layers. Writing in the early twentieth century, he produced dozens of books and many articles arguing against evolutionary theory, and his ideas later influenced the modern creation science movement.

He died in 1963. Though his scientific views were strongly disputed by mainstream geologists, his work remains historically important for understanding the rise of twentieth-century creationism and the intellectual life of the Adventist tradition.
