Born in 1858, George Abiah Hibbard was an American lawyer and politician from Massachusetts. He studied at Harvard, practiced law in Boston, and became active in civic life before rising into higher public office.
Hibbard is best known for serving as mayor of Boston from 1908 to 1910. Before that, he held positions in city and state government, building a reputation as a capable public servant in Democratic politics.
He died in 1928. Today he is mainly remembered for his role in Boston government and for the steady, workmanlike public career that led him from the law into the mayor’s office.
