Born in Hampshire, Frank Dilnot was an English author and journalist who built his career in newspapers before moving into books. Available biographical sources agree that he was educated privately, started reporting with Central News in London around 1900, and then worked for the Daily Mail from 1902 to 1910.
He later edited the Daily Citizen from 1912 to 1915 and went on to report from the United States for the Daily Chronicle. That background gave his writing an energetic, observant style, which can be seen in books such as The Adventures of a Newspaper Man, The Old Order Changeth, The New America, and England After the War.
