About the author

Born in 1880 and active through the first half of the 20th century, Frederick George Smith wrote substantial works of Christian teaching and interpretation for the Church of God movement in Anderson, Indiana. Confirmed titles include Evolution of Christianity (1911), What the Bible Teaches (1914), The Last Reformation (1919), Look on the Fields (1920), and The Revelation Explained.

His surviving papers suggest a remarkably busy ministry life. The Anderson University and Church of God Archives list extensive correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, radio sermons, missionary material, and hundreds of sermons, along with condolences received after his death in 1947.

Today, several of his books remain easy to find in public-domain and library collections, which helps explain why readers still encounter his writing more than a century after some of it first appeared. His style is direct, doctrinal, and shaped by a strong interest in the visible life and mission of the church.
