About the author

Born around 1858 and dying in Barcelona on July 17, 1918, Emili Tarré i Tarré was a Catalan lawyer and ornithologist. He became known for his study of birds and for helping document the natural world of Catalonia in a way that was useful as well as scholarly.

He assembled an important bird collection that was later transferred to the Museu de Zoologia de Barcelona, where it helped form the basis of the museum’s bird section. Records from the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona also identify him as a significant figure in the city’s natural history circles.

For audiobook listeners, he is especially associated with Els aucells més útils a la agricultura de Catalunya, a work that shows his interest in birds not just as objects of study, but as part of everyday agricultural life. His writing sits at the meeting point of observation, public education, and local scientific culture.
