Born in Brooklyn on July 6, 1875, Elizabeth Meserole Rhodes Jackson was an American writer and magazine editor. She studied at Cornell University, where an 1897 portrait of her survives, and went on to build a career in writing for young readers.

Jackson is best remembered for popular children's books and stories, including It's Your Fairy Tale, You Know and the Beacon Hill Children books. Her fiction was often set in Boston, giving it a strong sense of place and a friendly, lived-in feeling.

She died on June 30, 1955. Though not widely known today, her work still appeals to readers who enjoy early twentieth-century children's fiction with humor, imagination, and a vivid picture of city life.
