About the author

She worked as a broadcast journalist before moving into independent documentary filmmaking, including work as a former 1010 WINS New York anchor-reporter and a correspondent for ABC TV's Lifetime Magazine.

She is the author of Rachel and the Upside Down Heart, a true story for children about loss and healing, first published in 1990. She also wrote Brother Francis; Or, Less than the Least, a life of Francis of Assisi.

Her nonfiction film work includes co-producing My Grandfather's House and Luboml: My Heart Remembers. Across her books and documentaries, her work often centers on memory, family, faith, and the emotional lives behind real events.
