Before focusing on books and documentaries, she worked in broadcast journalism, including roles as an anchor and reporter at 1010 WINS in New York and as a correspondent for ABC TV's Lifetime Magazine. That background shows in the clear, compassionate way she approaches real lives and difficult subjects.
She is the author of Rachel and the Upside Down Heart, a children's book based on a true story about a young girl learning to live with the death of her father. She also co-produced the documentaries Luboml: My Heart Remembers and My Grandfather's House with Ron Steinman, projects centered on memory, family roots, and the legacy of Jewish history in Eastern Europe.
