Edward Tennyson Reed was an English political cartoonist and illustrator, born in 1860 and died in 1933. He is chiefly remembered for his long association with Punch, where his drawings helped shape the look of British political caricature in the late Victorian and Edwardian years.
Reed was admired for expressive draftsmanship and for bringing a slightly grotesque, comic energy to faces and public scenes. Alongside political work, he also produced humorous illustrated series, including the well-known Prehistoric Peeps, which showed his talent for mixing satire with playful invention.
Today he is remembered as a versatile magazine artist whose work moved easily between public life and light comedy. His drawings still stand out for their animation, character, and quick visual storytelling.
