A Scottish crime writer whose novels range from Edinburgh investigations to dark cases in the Borders, he builds gripping mysteries out of vivid settings and damaged secrets.
Ed James is a Scottish author of crime fiction whose books span several series and locations. According to his official author page, his recent work is set in the Scottish Borders, where he lives, and follows DI Rob Marshall, a criminal profiler turned detective.
His publisher says he is also known for the DI Simon Fenchurch novels, the Seattle-based FBI thrillers featuring Max Carter, and the self-published Detective Scott Cullen books with their Craig Hunter spin-offs. Before writing full-time, he worked in IT project management and wrote whenever he could.
That mix of professional discipline and a feel for place shows in the scale of his output: series-driven crime novels with a strong sense of setting, from city streets to quieter landscapes hiding violent histories.
