A Church of God minister, editor, and publisher, he helped shape early religious publishing in Anderson, Indiana. His books blended testimony, practical Christian teaching, and a strong interest in healing, holiness, and everyday faith.
Born in Randolph County, Indiana, in 1861, he trained in public speaking and religious education before entering the ministry of the Church of God in the 1890s. Reference works and biographical summaries describe him as both a preacher and an editor, with studies at the Northern Indiana Normal School and Otterbein University.
He became closely associated with the Gospel Trumpet, serving as editor and helping lead the Gospel Trumpet Company in Anderson, Indiana. That work made him an important figure in the movement's publishing life, where he wrote and circulated books, tracts, and devotional material for a wide readership.
His published works include titles such as The Great Physician and His Power to Heal and Startling Incidents and Experiences in the Christian Life, along with other practical religious books that remained in library and public-domain collections long after his death in 1942. Today he is remembered mainly for his role in early Church of God literature and for the earnest, experience-centered tone of his writing.
