About the author

Dorothy Edith Griffiths Woollard (1886–1986) was a British artist, printmaker, and author, born in Clifton, Bristol. Sources describe her as a notable etcher of topographical scenes, especially active in the early 20th century, and identify her as part of the group linked with the Bristol Municipal School of Art.

She later studied etching at the Royal College of Art under Sir Frank Short after receiving a scholarship, and by 1914 had moved to London to develop her work further. Her books include Bristol: A Sketch Book, and book listings also connect her with volumes such as London and other entries in Black's Sketchbooks.

Although she is remembered mainly for her prints, she also wrote and illustrated books that introduced readers to cities through quick, observant sketches. I couldn't confirm a reliable portrait image from the sources I found, so none is included here.
