About the author

Born in England in 1867, Dan B. Brummitt later built much of his career in the United States. Archival records from Baker University say he earned both an M.A. and a Doctor of Divinity there, and went on to serve as an ordained pastor in the Rock River, Kansas, and South Kansas conferences of the Methodist Episcopal Church.

Brummitt was also deeply involved in religious journalism and publishing. Sources describe him as an editor of The Christian Advocate, and library and catalog records connect him with a steady stream of books and manuals for Methodist readers, especially works centered on the Epworth League, including Epworth League Methods, The Efficient Epworthian, and The Epworth League's History and Our Pledge.

His books suggest a writer who cared about organization, devotion, and practical service, and he also published John Wesley, Jr.: The Story of an Experiment, which remains the title most widely circulated online today. He died in 1939. I couldn’t confirm a reliable portrait image from the sources I checked, so none is included here.
