by Crawford Jackson
With a Ph.D. in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and an M.A. in linguistics from the University of Georgia, Jackson Crawford has built his career around Old Norse language, mythology, and literature. He has taught these subjects at UCLA and the University of California, Berkeley.
Crawford is especially known for translations and retellings that make classic Norse texts easier for general readers to enjoy. His work focuses on presenting the poems, sagas, and myths of medieval Scandinavia in direct, readable English while staying close to the spirit of the originals.
Alongside his books, he has also reached a wide audience through public-facing work on Norse myth and language, helping many readers discover these traditions for the first time.
