About the author

Paolo Lorenzini was an Italian writer, poet, and translator born in Florence on January 12, 1876. He wrote under the pen name "Collodi Nipote," a name that openly linked him to his uncle Carlo Collodi, the creator of Pinocchio.

He became known for children's literature, with Sussi e Biribissi among his best-known works. He also wrote Il cuore di Pinocchio, a later story that brought Pinocchio back into print for new readers and showed how strongly his work stayed connected to his family's most famous literary creation.

Lorenzini died in Florence in 1958. Even if he is less famous today than his uncle, he remains an interesting figure in Italian children's literature for the way he blended family legacy, adventure, and humor in books of his own.
