Clementia

Clementia was the pen name of Sister Mary Edward Feehan, born Agnes M. Feehan in St. Louis in 1878. She was an American Catholic religious sister who wrote juvenile fiction under her pseudonym.

Her best-known works include Uncle Frank’s Mary, The Quest of Mary Selwyn, Bird-A-Lea, Mostly Mary, Mary’s Rainbow, The Story of Berta and Beth, and Wilhelmina. Several of her novels form the Mary Selwyn series, written especially for girls and centered on friendship, family, adventure, and religious devotion.

Feehan is recorded as having died in 1957. Her books remain available through digital collections such as Project Gutenberg, which preserves several of her works under both her real name and the name Clementia.
