About the author

Born in Barcelona in 1869, Claudi Planas i Font was a Catalan lawyer and writer. He studied law and was active in Catalan cultural and civic life, with ties to groups such as the Unió Catalanista and the Centre Escolar Catalanista. For many years he also served as secretary of Barcelona City Council, working through very different political periods before his death in 1931.

Alongside his public career, he built a literary reputation in both poetry and prose. He took part in the Jocs Florals of Barcelona, where he was awarded prizes in 1895 and 1897, later serving as secretary in 1899 and as a maintainer in 1900.

His writing is best known for rural themes, shaped mainly by a realist style and softened by a lyrical, suggestive tone. He is associated with works such as En Pere i altres contes and Entre muntanyes, which reflect his interest in landscape, character, and the emotional undercurrents of ordinary life.
