About the author

Born Clarissa Mabel Blank in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Clair Blank published her first Beverly Gray book in 1934, not long after finishing high school. She went on to write 26 novels in the Beverly Gray series between 1934 and 1955, building a lively world of friendship, mystery, and ambition around her heroine.

Blank also wrote the three-book Adventure Girls series in 1936 and an adult novel, Lover Come Back, in 1940. Her career started remarkably early, and her success as a young author helped make her a memorable name in mid-20th-century popular fiction for girls.

She died in Philadelphia in 1965, but her books have remained of interest to collectors and readers who enjoy classic series fiction. While a clear photographic portrait was not easy to confirm from reliable sources, her work itself has kept her reputation alive.
