Born in Montpelier, Vermont, in 1873, Charles Kellogg Field was an American journalist and poet. He was part of Stanford University's pioneer class and graduated in 1895 with a degree in English.

Field wrote early Stanford-themed work including Four-leaved Clover and Stanford Stories. He later became widely known in magazine publishing, serving as editor of Sunset after he and colleagues acquired the magazine from the Southern Pacific Railroad.
