About the author

Born in Galbiate on June 6, 1784, Carlo Redaelli was an Italian historian closely associated with Brianza. Sources describe him as a scholar of local history whose writing focused on the landscapes, towns, and traditions of Lombardy.

He is best known for Notizie istoriche della Brianza, a substantial historical work on Brianza, the district of Lecco, Valsassina, and neighboring places, published in the 1820s. He also wrote about the ancient state of Lake Pusiano, showing a strong interest in how geography and history shape one another.

Redaelli died in 1853. Though not widely known outside regional history, his books have had lasting value for readers interested in northern Italy, preserving details of local memory that might otherwise have been lost.
