About the author

Born on April 9, 1849, in Kviinge, Sweden, Carl August Cederborg worked first in farming and local public life before moving into journalism. He became involved with several newspapers, including in Helsingborg, Gothenburg, and Stockholm, and later wrote full time.

He is especially remembered for his historical-romantic fiction, much of it rooted in the history and landscape of his native Göinge region in Skåne. Reference works from Sweden describe him as a popular author whose novels were valued less for literary ambition than for vivid storytelling and strong historical and local color.

Cederborg also wrote detective fiction, showing a range beyond his better-known historical novels. He died in 1933, leaving behind more than forty works and a reputation as a widely read storyteller of adventure and Swedish regional history.
