About the author

Settling in Newport Beach in 1912, he later became postmaster of Laguna Beach, serving from 1921 to 1934. Contemporary local history sources also describe him as a newspaper correspondent and short story writer, placing him squarely in the civic and literary life of coastal Southern California.

He is best known for El Diablo, published in 1921. The novel is an adventure story set around Southern California fishing communities, and it reflects the landscapes and atmosphere of the region he knew firsthand.

Some records identify him as Brayton S. Norton, and a grave record lists him as Brayton Saltonstall Norton (1884–1958). Because detailed biographical information is limited and I couldn't confirm a suitable portrait image from reliable accessible pages, I've left the profile image blank.
