About the author

Born Alfred Johannes Olsen Jr. in 1884, he wrote under the name Bob Olsen and became an early contributor to American science fiction magazines. He is associated especially with the pulp era, when imaginative, fast-moving stories reached huge audiences through popular magazines.

His fiction appeared in Amazing Stories, where he made his debut in 1927 with "The Four-Dimensional Roller-Press." He went on to write more science-fiction adventures and also produced mystery stories with a scientific angle, showing a knack for combining speculative ideas with entertainment.

Olsen died in 1956. Though not as widely known today as some of his contemporaries, he remains a notable figure from the formative years of magazine science fiction.
