Born in Louisiana in 1869, Blanche McManus was an American writer and artist whose work blended travel writing with illustration. She is best known for books created with her husband, Milburg Francisco Mansfield, including illustrated travel volumes that followed their trips abroad.
Her books stood out for combining observations about places, people, and architecture with her own drawings and watercolors. At a time when automobile travel was still new, some of these works also captured the excitement of modern travel and changing ways of seeing the world.
McManus also published work under her own name, including The American Woman Abroad in 1911. She died in 1935. A clear verified portrait image was not available from the sources I checked, so no profile image is included.
