Benjamin Rhodes

Before becoming a bestselling author, Ben Rhodes worked at the center of American politics and foreign policy. He served as a speechwriter for Barack Obama and later became Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting in the Obama White House, a role that shaped much of his public-facing work.

His writing often explores how power, identity, and history shape modern life. He is the author of The World as It Is: A Memoir of the Obama White House and After the Fall: Being American in the World We’ve Made, books that combine insider experience with a broader look at democracy, nationalism, and the stories nations tell about themselves.

Outside his books, Rhodes has continued to write and comment on world affairs through journalism, public speaking, and podcasting. His work is known for making complicated political events easier to follow without losing sight of the human stakes behind them.
