A German writer from Luxembourg who published fiction under several names, he left behind novellas and sketches that moved between society life, satire, and sharp observation. His work still surfaces today through public-domain editions and digitized collections.

by Baron von Alexander Roberts
Born in Luxembourg on August 23, 1845, Alexander von Roberts became known as a German-language writer in the late 19th century. He also used the pseudonyms Nuredin Aga and Robert Alexander, a sign of the varied literary identity he presented to readers.
Available records identify him chiefly as a writer of novellas and sketches, and surviving editions show that his work continued to circulate after his lifetime through library and public-domain collections. Project Gutenberg lists works including Aus Mitleid: die gekaufte Stimme, des Kaisers Fünf usw. Neue Novellen und Skizzen, which suggests a career centered on shorter fiction and polished prose.
He died on September 8, 1896, in Schreiberhau, in the district of Hirschberg. Though he is not widely known today, the preservation of his books online has kept his name accessible for modern readers interested in lesser-known 19th-century German authors.
