About the author

Born at Wardour Castle in Wiltshire on December 28, 1831, he became the 12th Baron Arundell of Wardour, part of one of England’s long-established Catholic families. He died on October 26, 1906.

He is remembered as an antiquarian writer as well as a peer. His works include Tradition: Principally with Reference to Mythology and the Law of Nations, The Secret of Plato’s Atlantis, and Notes on the Family History, showing a strong interest in legend, classical thought, and the history of his own family.

His writing has a distinctly historical and reflective feel, bringing together noble lineage, Catholic tradition, and a serious fascination with how myths and old records shape cultural memory. For listeners drawn to genealogy, belief, and the afterlife of ancient stories, his work offers a window into a very Victorian kind of scholarship.
