by Antonius Nielsen
Born on November 19, 1894, in Tølløse, Denmark, he was baptized Anton Nielsen but later wrote as Antonius Nielsen so readers would not confuse him with another Anton Nielsen. He finished school at Roskilde Katedralskole in 1913 and made his literary debut in 1916 with a novella in Illustreret Tidende.
His first book, Et Aar, appeared in 1919, initially under the name Anton Nielsen. Sources also describe him as cand.polit., showing that his academic background extended beyond literature.
Although he does not seem to be widely known today, bibliographic records and Project Gutenberg have helped keep his work available to modern readers. No reliable portrait image could be confirmed from the sources reviewed during this search.
