Born Rauha Anna Palmlöf in Hämeenkyrö in 1884, she wrote under the name Annikki Virvatuli. Finnish library and biographical sources describe her as a schoolteacher and author, and note that she spent part of her childhood in Jämsänkoski.
She studied at the teacher seminary in Jyväskylä and later worked as a teacher in different parts of Finland. In 1922 she married Peeter Kaik and moved to Estonia. Sources on her work describe her mainly as a writer for young people, though she also wrote for adults.
Virvatuli's books reflect the values of her time, especially education, patriotism, and everyday moral growth. Public-domain listings and library records connect her with titles such as Kaarilan tytöt and the play Varastettu polkupyörä.
