Born in Nastola, Finland, on February 6, 1876, Anni Kaste wrote under a pen name; her full name was Anni Kastegren, née Lindeberg. She is remembered as a Finnish writer whose career included novels, short fiction, and poetry, and who died in Lahti on July 17, 1961.

Her literary career began with the short-story collection Vastarannalla in 1908. Later sources describe a substantial body of work that included many novels as well as poetry and short-story collections, with Iltatie appearing in 1946.

Kaste was also active in journalism and public life. Sources note that from 1930 onward she worked as an editor and as editorial secretary for the magazine Naisten Ääni, linking her writing to broader social discussion as well as to literature.
